Most recently, we have been asked to provide expertise on energy conservation projects and have completed four jobs. We now have a staff of 8 people working on their projects.
At International Paper, FeedForward has competed with their primary control system supplier, the Foxboro Company (Invensys). FeedForward offers considerable DCS platform expertise and a dedicated and responsive staff who have met commitments. We also have the ability to work on Rockwell automation equipment and to integrate PLC's to the DCS. Most importantly, we are able to meet commitments at a lower cost. We have now completed control projects at four IP mills, including a $1M controls scope for a paper machine rebuild in Florida in 2007.
At Abengoa BioEnergy, in 2002, FeedForward was asked to assist with smaller plant expansions and controls upgrades at 2 ethanol older plants with the Yokogawa Micro DCS. These initial projects enabled us to develop ethanol process knowledge, and meet customer requirements for quality, schedule and minimum downtime. Since then, FeedForward has provided complete control system retrofits at the two older plants, installed new controls at a third to double capacity, and in 2007, completed a turnkey control system at a new 100 MGY facility in Nebraska. The objective was to replace old antiquated equipment and improve reliability and efficiency with reduced usage of natural gas. FeedForward specified and procured new instrumentation and Emerson Delta V DCS. We designed and configured the hardware and software to accommodate rapid changes in the fuel supply without tripping the boiler. US Steel is now realizing significant cost savings through increased uptime and reduced usage of natural gas.
At the City of Flint, FeedForward provided new instrumentation and a Rockwell Automation control system and Operator Workstations for four sludge burning incinerators. The controls were part of a major overhaul to reduce emissions and improve air quality and control system reliability.
