Mead, NE - New Ethanol Plant Control System

FeedForward has been awarded a contract and begun initial design work for a 24 MGY Katzen-designed grass roots ethanol plant in Mead, NE. FeedForward’s scope of supply includes all of the hardware/software for a Yokogawa Centum CS3000 DCS and all of the instrumentation for the plant. The DCS scope includes two Field Control Stations connected to two dual monitor Operator Stations. The I/O includes ~400 analog points and ~600 digital points, which control the Katzen-designed portion of the plant. Additionally, FeedForward will integrate the controls provided by others (grain handling hard wiring, anaerobic digesters/nutrient recovery system Allen-Bradley SLC, gas handling Koyo PLC, and boiler house Koyo PLC) into the Yokogawa DCS.

The controls for the process include standard regulatory and discrete control and numerous interlocking and sequence controls for the various areas of the plant. The scope includes supply of all Yokogawa equipment, all instrumentation for the plant, seven new rack-mounted backplanes for installation in MCC’s, a rigorous factory test and on-site support for installation and startup support.
